Recipe for artistic Christmas in Beaminster

Beaminster patisserie Le Vieux Four is hosting a Christmas art exhibition by local artist Mike Jackson from 7 December. This coincides with the launch of a recipe book by Le Vieux Four owner and chef Lynette Fisher.

Mike Jackson will be exhibiting paintings inspired by Dorset scenes and landscapes. Last year Mike won the Stella and Trevor Jones Award for Contemporary Art at the Dorchester Art Club Open Exhibition. His work explores the effects of the elements and light on the Dorset countryside and coastline.

At the same time Lynette Fisher, owner and chef at Le Vieux Four, is launching her book, ‘Recipes from Le Vieux Four: The Secret Culinary Adventure of a Dorset Pastry Chef’. This beautiful book is sprinkled with illustrations by another local artist, Marion Taylor, and quirky iPad doodles by the author.

Le Vieux Four is a patisserie and gallery café which has been trading over 20 years in the heart of Dorset. All cakes and pastries are baked on the premises using traditional French patisserie and regional recipes.

Mike Jackson said “Le Vieux Four is a Beaminster institution and a great friend to many local artists. I am delighted to have another show there and honoured to be doing so at the same time that Lynette launches her recipe book.”

A visit to the exhibition can combine viewing Mike Jackson’s paintings, stopping for a coffee and cake and browsing for Christmas gifts (hampers, artisan food and drink, cards, prints and paintings). The exhibition is on from 7 December to 7 January.

Le Vieux Four is at 2 North Street, Beaminster, Dorset, DT8 3DZ (telephone: 01308 863838). Check Le Vieux Four facebook page for opening hours: https://www.facebook.com/levieuxfourbeaminster
