Sculpture by the Lakes

Opened in 2011, Sculpture by the Lakes, near Dorchester, is set in 26 acres of countryside. It was created by renowned Dorset sculptor Simon Gudgeon and his wife, Monique.

Over 30 permanent pieces are by Simon, with ever-changing contributions from acclaimed artists from around the world.

With three gallery spaces exhibiting sculptures, paintings and prints by a collection of talented artists from around the globe, it’s a perfect place for art lovers and collectors.

The changing light on the outdoor sculptures throughout the day affects the highlights and shadows of the pieces and the intensity of the colours so it’s worth taking your time there.

The Lakes

The main feature of the sculpture park are two large lakes – Rainbow Lake and North Lake, with sculptures dotted along the banks and in the water. On one side of Rainbow Lake is a beautiful silver birch wood, with pieces chosen to suit the surroundings.
